Boston was voted the number three as healthiest cities in the United States. Anyone who calls Boston or Cambridge home shouldn’t be shocked by this fact. Boston has tons of choices for people wanting to stay in shape or looking to get into shape, and if you were not so lucky to check out the free fitness classes that happened this summer which is just another way to sample many of the gym options available, but if you were unable to check out the gyms that offered free classes during the summer there are many great resources available to help you decide where do you want to get your sweat on. Before you get online and try to decide where to join here are a few tips when deciding to join a gym. Boston fits the Work, Live and Play lifestyles
Ask yourself what you enjoy to do? Maybe you’re a person who loves spin or maybe your a person who likes yoga. You could be a person like myself who likes a variety of workouts on different days. Pick a gym that works with your lifestyle. What do I mean by that you might be wondering? Well like in real estate location matters. Location matters where the gym is located near your home and it can matter where you work. Some folks won’t go to the gym if the gym isn’t close to where they work. They want to be able to go to work and then go directly to the gym in order to really go and use it, but others want the gym close to home. Before you, tour gyms ask yourself what is your game plan in going? Once you have asked that question you might want to think about services that matter to you. Is parking important to you or is childcare important to you? You want to avoid the excuse why you don’t go. Then you want to consider the budget. The price of working outcomes in all different prices from $10 a month to close to $200 a month and gyms don’t come in all same size in the same box so you have to think about what you want in a gym and what you’re willing to pay. Keep in mind there are times of the year where gyms have sales and some are obvious like after New Years, but typically if you shop around gyms end of the month you will get the best deal. Talk to your friends as well they will tell you as well about gym they are a member of and why and tell you if they really like it and why and most important let you know when there is a great promotion to take advantage of. If I wrote a blog on every gym available this blog entry would be pages long, but here is a rundown of brand new studios that are set to open soon and the neighborhood you can find them in.
Chestnut Hill
YogaWorks– Opening Fall 2016 coming to The Street in Chestnut Hill. This fall, the shopping complex will welcome a 4,500 square foot studio feature two practice rooms, a retail boutique, showers and full locker rooms.
Btone Fitness– Early 207 the Pilates-focus studio that will be located on The Street. The Chestnut Hill studio will boast the newest type of Pilates and megaformer machines.
Barry’s Bootcamp– The Street in the coming months will have Barry Bootcamp. Barry Bootcamp is set to open Winter 2017 This high-intensity boot camp chain is the latest location will feature a 50 person studio: fully stocked men’s and women’s locker rooms, and a juice, smoothie and snack bar.
South Boston
BTone Fitness- The Pilates-focused studio, which already has five Massachusetts locations, is bringing another location to Boston area. Besides a location in Chestnut Hill, there will also be a location in Southie and will be set up to open December of 2016 if all goes according to plan.
Financial District
everybody fights– The popular boxing gym run by George Forman III, will open a second location at One Federal Street, in the Financial District. The new location will feature three rooms for the gym’s signature class, BoxFiit; an open gym, personal training, a pro shop; and a coffee lounge.
Get off the couch and get out there and do something. Try something new. There is a class for just about everyone budget and lifestyle so gets those sneakers on and gives these places a try when they open in your area.
