Design trends in the home have a shelf life just like everything else; fortunately, if you are lucky, you pick a trend with a long life. Nonetheless, not all trends last long. Here are trends you like in Boyonce’s song Irreplaceable To the Left to the Left. These trends are just that, heading to the left.
Quartz and Granite Countertops
Design Trends we will still see but see less of are Quartz and Granite Countertops. The look is cold, and in 2024, spaces will be warmed up with colors and textures. In 2024, we will still see quartz and granite countertops, but we will start to see more butcher block countertops.
All White Kitchens
We will see the sterile look design finally leave. The white kitchens will depart in 2024. 2024 will be the year we see a return to cool colors like greens and blues, Beige and taupe.
Open Floor Plans
Open floor plans were the design everyone homeowners had wanted for a long time. Times were what everyone wanted, and now folks will find in 2024, there will be a return to walls. Walls exist for a reason. Walls offer privacy, quiet, and different zones of a home. Open floor plans are trendy but have limited functionality, especially when sharing your home with others.
Colored Appliances
Colored Appliances we saw for a big hot minute. If you watch HGTV, you must have seen shows where the renovated home features a pop of color, with appliances like an oven or fridge standing out instead of a wall. In 2024, this look is getting its walking papers. You can have maybe one appliance that is that pop of color, but don’t go crazy because it will look as dated as watching an episode of Brady Bunch. Stainless Steel will make a triumph return.
Mid-Century Modern
We will still see Century since it is a classic look, but you will see more pieces throughout the home, and it will not be the only type of design in one room. Sprinkle Mid-Century.
Gray and Beige
We all might see gray and Beige, but it might not be as drab or cool as we have seen for a while. Use cool colors, but make them appear warmer and less cold.
Recess Lighting
Recess lighting will see less. Lighting will become layered. I am lighting around islands, lighting lit underneath cabinets and countertops. Fixtures will come equipped with motion sensing, voice activation, and programmability to fit people’s lifestyles and schedules.
Modern Farmhouse Movement
Modern Farmhouse look has been around for a long time. Classical architecture and craftsmanship—molding, trim, columns, and antiques will replace the modern farmhouse look.
