Summer officially ends Sept 25th and many of us are already starting to think about Fall since children are now back to school and the air has a different feeling than it did a few weeks ago. Like every season there are activities in and around New England many people welcome with open arms if it means hiking the many New England Trails, Day trips to take in the fall foliage, but also apple picking, cider tasting and cider donuts and last Pumpkin Picking. Many of these activities you can do not far from Boston and Cambridge. Here is a rundown of towns that offer Apple Picking a fun and much more, and if you’re looking to buy a home in one of these neighborhoods you might be able to kill two birds with one stone.
Nashoba Winery in Bolton, MA – There’s a brewery/winery/distillery on the property so you can grab a few pints/glasses of wine while you are picking apples. The Nashoba Valley Orchard is extremely well organized. No mystery which type of apple your picking. After your done picking some apples you can sample some wine where they use every piece of the farm to make there wine and beer. If you want to enjoy your wine after you purchase it you can open your wine or beer and have your very own picnic. People can bring sandwiches, cheese, and crackers and take in the scene of fall. Dogs on a leash are also welcomed while you pick apples and if your enjoying wine or beer from the Winery
Vieille Farm-in Concord, MA – Pick your own pumpkins. The field is open weekends 10 am – 3 pm. Pumpkins
Smolak Farm-in North Andover, MA – They let you pick by weight, so there’s no minimum amount. (Most farms just give you a certain size bag for a fixed price.) Apples
Ward Berry Farm-in Sharon, MA – Over 30 acres of pumpkins in all shapes & sizes. That’s about 100,000 pumpkins! Pumpkins.
Pickard Farm– in Littleton, MA – Pick your own pumpkins right off the vine. Just 30 minutes from Boston; located less than a mile from Kimball Farm Ice Cream Stand & Witches Woods. Pumpkins
Russell Farm-in Ipswich, MA – It’s a bit of a drive, but if the foliage is just right it’s a beautiful drive. It won’t be as insane as some of the other orchards, but it does get busy on weekends. They also have amazing cider donuts that are totally worth the wait. Apples. You can also pick up a pumpkin or sample some wine
It’s officially fall and there is fun for the very young and old and you might be able to bring your four-legged child as well. So get out there and take in the season and if you want to find a home along the way you might be able to do both for checking out this blog.
