Many of my previous clients have purchased homes that they adore in certain aspects, while other elements prompt them to think, “I might want to change that at some point if I decide to make this property my own.”Once the buyer becomes a homeowner, they embark on renovating their new dwelling. Personal taste undoubtedly plays a significant role in the choices made during this process, but so does longevity.
Many homeowners cautiously choose appliances, fixtures, and paint colors, aware that these choices can swiftly age their homes. The ever-evolving landscape of technology serves as a prime example. In 2023, we’re discussing AI’s profound impacts on our lives, both good and bad. Just a few years ago, hot topics included Bluetooth connectivity, integrated USB ports, and smartphone control for household systems. Smart Technology Is it worth it in the home?
In today’s world, nearly every appliance in our kitchen can either remain analog or be upgraded to incorporate smart home technology. When it comes to smart technology in kitchens, only 31% of potential buyers are genuinely impressed by it. The majority may not react as positively as you might expect when it comes time to sell your home.
Hands-Free Faucets vs. Standard Faucets in Kitchens
When it comes to faucets, the choice between a standard faucet and a hands-free one is noteworthy. According to a survey conducted by realtors, 52% of respondents preferred the standard faucet, while 48% favored the hands-free variety. This suggests that you might consider a more selective approach to integrating this technology. For example, consider hands-free faucets for the main kitchen sink and standard ones for wet bars. In bathroom remodeling, carefully evaluate the suitability of hands-free or standard faucets for your needs.
Kitchen Appliances and Aesthetic
The choice between integrated appliances and standalone pieces in the kitchen is an important consideration for home buyers.Sixty-four percent of potential buyers prefer appliances and features that integrate into the kitchen’s appearance.. They appreciate when appliances like the fridge and dishwasher blend seamlessly into the kitchen design. In contrast, only 36% of buyers either don’t prioritize this aspect or consider it less important.
Furthermore, refrigerator design can significantly impact a kitchen’s aesthetic. A notable 57% of buyers prefer a refrigerator that seamlessly fades into the kitchen, even if it means sacrificing some storage space with a smaller fridge. On the other hand, only 43% prioritize maximizing refrigerator space.
Regarding fridge features, 66% of buyers prefer refrigerators that do not display the contents, valuing a clean, uncluttered appearance.
When it comes to appliance finishes only 45% are included in bold or unique appliance colors. The tried-and-true stainless steel remains a favorite among 55% of buyers and homeowners. Only 45% are inclined towards bold or unique appliance colors.
Moving on to the kitchen sink, 63% of buyers prefer a double sink basin, citing increased functionality and convenience. The remaining 37% embrace the simplicity of a single sink basin.
Regarding stovetops, gas cooking is the preferred choice for 55% of homeowners and buyers due to its even cooking, speed, and ease of cleaning. Only 46% favor electric stovetops. It’s worth noting that the demand for gas cooking may increase in value as environmental concerns and health considerations drive efforts to phase out gas stoves.
Ultimately, when making upgrades in your home, it’s essential to consider
functionality and appeal to a broad audience, especially if you were to sell your home. When designed and upgraded thoughtfully, kitchens and bathrooms can boost home value and provide a great ROI. These spaces often leave a lasting impression on potential buyers and homeowners alike.
