New Construction is coming into focus in Jamaica Plain near Forest Hills. Waltham-based developer Criterion Development Partners filed plans with the Boston Development and Planning Agency for an apartment complex across the street from the forest hills T Stop. The Proposed building would have 252 apartments and those units would be spread over three five-story buildings on what are currently surface parking lots. Fifty of the unit would be designated as affordable. There would be 140 parking spaces and 130 will be garage spaces.
Units in the building will offer a mix of studio, one bedroom, two bedrooms, and three bedrooms that will all be somewhat unique. Certified Artist live/Work will be available. The breakdown will be 58 studio spaces, 125 1 bedrooms, 58 2 bedrooms, and 11 3 bedroom units. The work and live spaces for artists will be 3 bedroom townhouses. The plan also calls to improve Washington street for traffic and pedestrians. The project will also be offering Commercial space on the first floor, and will also offer ride-sharing Zipcar spaces along with bike sharing
This project is still in the early stages but more new housing looks like it will be coming to JP. Prices are not determined. However, as of Jan 18th, 2017 the project has gotten the green light to move forward. Stay Tuned for pricing.
